At Wild Oak, we are dedicated to providing a transformative nature-based learning experience for young learners ages 3 and 4. Our mission is to cultivate a deep connection with the natural world, fostering holistic development, social-emotional skills, and resilience through risky play in a nurturing environment.
Ages 8 to 11
Who:
Learners ages 8-11
What:
Our muti-aged studios are completely learner led, utilizing the Socratic method to draw out and nourish each individual's unique passions and genius. Quests are our way of exposing learners to history, art, science, life skills and more, while self paced online platforms are utilized for developing mastery in core skills of reading and math.
Nature Based:
At Wild Oak, our focus is on delivering a transformative learning journey deeply rooted in nature. Our mission is to cultivate a deep connection with the natural world, nurturing a sense of belonging and community, and fostering a lifelong commitment to stewardship of the land.
Mixed Age:
Our studios are designed with an understanding that ability is not determined by age and that in an open environment, learners naturally learn from other learners with different interests, skills, and ability levels.
Projects with Purpose:
Learners focus on solving real-world problems, pressing issues that reflect the world around us. These projects bring together multiple disciplines and engage learners by allowing each to focus on areas of individual interest and ability.
Mastery Focused:
At Acton, our learners have the opportunity to learn at their own pace, allowing them to excel quickly in areas of strength and take the time to learn thoroughly before moving on in others. This allows each learner to continually be challenged by their work.
